Freebee Debuts Electric Shuttle Service to Address Mount Dora’s Downtown Parking
This October, the charming city of Mount Dora introduced a game-changing transportation solution: a free, on-demand electric shuttle service powered by Freebee. Aiming to tackle long-standing parking congestion, the pilot launched on October 4, 2024, providing a smooth, eco-friendly ride option on weekends for both residents and visitors.
The service runs every Friday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., with two zero-emission vehicles offering door-to-door trips within Mount Dora’s downtown Community Redevelopment Area. Riders can request a shuttle through the Ride Freebee app or call-in if they don’t have a smartphone, then hop on at one of several public parking lots—including City Hall, the Tremain Street lot, and various downtown garages.

According to a City of Mount Dora spokesperson, the new service is meant to “alleviate long-standing parking challenges” and help people explore the downtown core without worrying about finding a parking spot. Mount Dora Buzz, a local community newsroom, notes that the pilot is backed by the City Council via a one-year trial program.
Local business owners are already optimistic. In a press release referenced by Style Magazine, Freebee’s Managing Partner Jason Spiegel emphasized the service’s dual purpose: “We’re here to drive economic development, help local businesses, and promote everything the city has to offer”.
Shuttle operations, including vehicle placement and pickup protocols, are tracked in real time via the app—a setup highlighted by ClickOrlando as providing additional safety through emergency alerts.
The Mount Dora Freebee shuttle embodies a forward-thinking, sustainable mobility solution—bringing electric transportation, reduced traffic congestion, and downtown vibrancy together. After the pilot year concludes in September 2025, the City Council will evaluate performance before deciding on potential renewal.
