Freebee to Become Seminole County’s New Public Transit Provider

Big news for Central Florida: Freebee is officially expanding into Seminole County, taking the wheel from LYNX to provide residents with a fresh, sustainable alternative to public transportation.

Following a unanimous vote by Seminole County commissioners, Freebee will replace the county’s previous fixed-route bus service, LYNX Link 62, with an on-demand ride service that better meets the needs of modern riders. The new transit model will begin in October 2025, offering point-to-point transportation throughout parts of Altamonte Springs, Casselberry, Longwood, Winter Springs, and unincorporated areas of Seminole County.

“This is about offering a more flexible, cost-effective way to connect people to jobs, services, and everyday destinations,” said County Commissioner Jay Zembower in an interview with WFTV.

The switch to Freebee is expected to significantly reduce costs for the county, while increasing efficiency and accessibility for riders. Trips can be easily scheduled through the Ride Freebee app, giving users the freedom to travel when and where they need — without the limits of a fixed bus schedule or route.

This major milestone also marks one of Freebee’s largest countywide partnerships to date, demonstrating growing momentum behind microtransit solutions that are more responsive to the needs of the community.
